How do the bacteria in my gut affect my IBS?
A new study from Finland showed that the fecal bacteria of patients with irritable bowel syndrome differ significantly from that of healthy subjects. In this study, the researcher used a very accurate technique to detect the strains of bacteria. This technique is far more advanced than culture technique which has been used in the past for detection and identification of intestinal bacteria. The relevance of this new finding to the symptoms and treatment of IBS is still unknown. Gastroenterology
