Review of IBS Treatments for 2008

Doctors at the American College of Gastroenterology recently reviewed over 300 studies on IBS and created an updated list of treatment recommendations. Some of the treatments include fiber, anti-diarrheals, anti-spasmodics, antibiotics, probiotics, and antidepressants. The effectiveness and evidence supporting the claimed treatment was categorized from weak to strong. Reviewers also gave recommendations about the treatments to be avoided and outlined situations that merit further testing for conditions other than IBS. MedPage Today, December 18, 2008
