New Heartburn Drug Approved

The FDA has approved heartburn drug Kapidex as a prescription proton-pump inhibitor. Kapidex is in the same class as Prevacid and is to be used for treating gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). However, it appears that the newly approved drug has about the same effectiveness as Prevacid. Chicago Tribune, February 4, 2009
