Depression Linked to Digestive Upset
A team of Dutch researcher found that patients with digestive problems were likely to also be depressed. The team used questionnaires and other discussion-based methodologies to assess patients’ mental health. They found that patients with digestive disturbances scored higher on nearly all tests. This leads to the need to assess not just the digestive health, but also the mental health of a patient in order to treat dyspepsia. Medwire News, February 9, 2009
