Talk Therapy Soothes Tummies
According to a recent review of six studies, talk therapy can be effective in helping children who suffer from stomach pain. According to lead review author Angela Huertas-Ceballos, the studies show that there is a link between talk therapy and reduced stomach pain. The therapy decreases anxiety levels, causing the stomach muscles to relax. Sometimes parents worry or feel anxious about their child’s pain, which contributes to increased levels of pain. In order to diminish the child’s pain, parents should reinforce positive coping behaviors, rather than focusing on the pain. newKerala.com, Jan. 23, 2008
