A tighter hold on the wallet can mean tightening the belt as well. There are smart ways to save money but stay healthy. Dr. Thomas Wieda of Penn State provides suggestions on how to cut costs on health care, which include not skipping routine check ups and tests and using generic medications. Bethany Thayer, a dietician, says that the best ways to save on diet include cooking at home and stocking up on canned good when they are on sale.
