Skin Allergy Testing and IBS
Prior investigators have shown that individual foods can trigger symptoms in some patients 15-67% of IBS subjects may benefit from dietary manipulation. In this study, researchers used skin allergy testing and showed that 25% of 100 cases with IBS had positive skin allergy test to specific food. This was much higher than similar allergy in general population (1 in 100 cases). This study did not test to see if elimination of the specific diet would result in improvement of symptoms J Clinical Gastroenterology
