Potassium Perk: Reduced Bloating
Many Americans complain of bloating, and potassium and dietary modification may present a solution. The American diet contains many processed foods, which are high in sodium. Potassium has a diuretic effect, helping the body eliminate excess sodium. Foods high in potassium and low in sodium are ideal for people who often feel bloated. Some foods that are rich in potassium include avocado, beets, and edamame. Another remedy is to drink plenty of water rather than canned beverages, which may contain excess sodium.
