IBS is a significant cause of lost work hours
Researchers from Mayo Clinic College of Medicine presented their research data at the recent American College of Gastroenterology annual meeting in Philadelphia. The research showed that patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders, and in particular, patients with constipation predominant IBS, lose 10.3 hours of their work time during each work week (40 hours). Considering the large population with IBS, it is not surprising how this problem translates into a large financial loss to the workforce all around the world. Forbes
