An Aspirin a Day Keeps the Polyps Away
Researchers in the U.S. and Europe have shown that aspirin helps reduce the likelihood of developing colon polyps, which may precede the development of colon cancer. The study examined the results of four trials that attempted to correlate taking aspirin with reduced risk of polyps. They found that people who took aspirin had a 17% lower risk of developing polyps. No significant effect was seen on the incidence of colon cancer, because the study did not focus on long-term effects. Reuters, February 10, 2009
