Aspirin Beneficial for Reducing Cancer-Related Inflammation

A study at the UK Cancer Research demonstrated that aspirin can prevent certain kinds of cancer by blocking proteins that cause inflammation; high concentrations of these proteins occur in these cancers. Since most pre-cancerous growths begin as people move into their mid-40s, many researchers advise that taking aspirin may help prevent these cancers. However, Professor Jack Cuzick, the lead researcher, cautions people that more research must be done before the benefits can be determined, and he stresses that one should take aspirin regularly only as advised by a medical professional. BBC News, April 29, 2009
